A devoted member of several philanthropic organizations, Wordy Thompson actively supports social, civil, and environmental rights through the National Organization for Women, the Southern Poverty Law Center, the American Civil Liberties Union, and the Sierra Club. Mr. Wordy Thompson also provides direct assistance to homeless individuals in Austin. Wordy Thompson graduated from Austin College in Sherman, Texas, with a dual Bachelor’s in History and Political Science. Mr. Wordy Thompson subsequently advanced his academic career at Southern Methodist University (SMU), a private institution near the heart of Dallas, Texas. In 1967, Wordy Thompson achieved his Juris Doctorate from SMU’s Dedman School of Law. Texas native Wordy Thompson holds a vast appreciation for his home state’s history, taking pleasure in reading firsthand diaries of early Texas rangers and settlers. Additionally, Mr. Wordy Thompson enjoys the literary works of Noam Chomsky, Eduardo Galeano, and Henry Louis Gates. Aside from his passion for reading, licensed pilot Wordy Thompson experiences different cultures through his multi-engine sea and land planes.
